Child / Play Therapy

“Nothing you do for your children is ever wasted.”
~ Garrison Keillor

Children ages 3-10 benefit most from play therapy versus traditional “talk therapy” as they can more effectively process through difficult situations and emotions using play. Children learn to communicate with others, express feelings, develop problem-solving skills, and learn ways of modifying behavior through play. Play therapy techniques can help to provide a safe psychological distance from problems allowing for expression of thoughts and feelings which helps children to cope with difficult emotions and find solutions to problems.
New Directions Counseling has several experienced therapists on staff who specialize in play therapy and child-related issues.
